It is easy to put together and has great sound effects. he especially likes that he can spin it around and do all kinds of different things with it. It also comes apart and makes two different lightsabers so that he can play fight with a friend. This is rather large when you use it as the spinner so I wouldn't recommend it for kids under 7, I would also recommend playing with this outside or in a large space because of it's size. Overall a wonderful pretend toy!

[Content] => What kid doesn't want a cool lightsaber toy to swing around, that has flashing lights and space age sounds? If they are a Star Wars fan, then this is a no brainer. I picked this item out to review because it just looks fun, and it is. I have secretly harbored a desire to own a lightsaber toy, but just never bought one. My two kids (girls at that) couldn't wait to put it together and battle each other . The hardest part about putting it together is getting it out of the box. It is strapped in there with plenty of wires and plastic. Then all you do is put the batteries in it..NO, it DOES NOT come with the batteries! Why people still expect a toy like this to come with batteries is beyond me. But anyway, the two light sabers then join up to the center handle easily, and firmly. The center handle can spin like a ratchet wrench, or you can lock it so it doesn't spin. Spinning is definitely funner, but you are also more likely to bonk yourself with one of the light sabers as you attempt daring manuevers. Or you can just have one light saber attached to the spinning handle, or the 2 light sabers with no handle attached to either of them. 3 different options in one toy.
Plus, you can really battle each other with these and they stay together and make cool sounds related to the motions you make. But if you swing it as hard as you can against something, then you might have a problem. Otherwise this toy should stand up quite well to NORMAL use by the child who knows how to play appropriately with such a toy. If your kid has a tendency to break things they play with, then realize this is breakable if they don't play with it the right way. Plus you probably could hurt someone with it if you hit them too hard.
In all, this is a neat toy, a nice Star Wars collector item that is of good to excellent quality (hey, it's plastic). In responsible hands, this should last as long as you want it to. Doesn't seem to drain batteries either.

[Content] => I got this for my son who has recently been fascinated by Star Wars. Even though he really has never seen the movie or know what it's about. He sees his friends with the T-shirts and toys and apparently that's all he needed.
The light sabers are very cool. Seem to be made of decent quality to last for some time. He's enjoyed playing with them and pretending he's luke skywalker, even though that's not the character he should be. No matter, he absolutely loves it.
I like the fact that the sabers can disconnect and be used independently. The spinning center portion is interesting. It only spins one way.
Overall, I think this is a great toy to add to your Star Wars play set and should last a while.

It makes realistic light saber sounds and light effects, which vary depending on whether you are moving the light saber or not. When you hit something it makes a sound for that too, and the light reacts to the hit. I had a fun light saber fight with my daughter. Get 6 AAA batteries and prepare to begin your Jedi training. They've played with it, the neighborhood kids have played with it and it's still holding up. And I haven't replaced the batteries yet either. [Summary] => My first FX lightsaber, and it's awesome.
[Content] => Before I begin, I must make it a point that this is my very first FX lightsaber, and I'm no expert in the products by Master Replicas and Hasbro. I consider myself a Star Wars nerd, and have played with previous models of FX lightsabers, but couldn't get myself to buy one until now.
The main reason I opted for this model over those by Master Replicas and Hasbro's previous is that the blade is removable, a feature I wanted very much for when I want to display the hilt by itself.
The packaging itself from Amazon.com was fair. The box for the saber only came wrapped in a heavy-duty black bag, which, coming from my point of view, doesn't seem exactly protective. (If this is how all FX lightsabers are shipped, then I retract my complaint.)
I rushed home to take it out, and was already impressed when opening the box--the saber is very high-quality and built to last. After I put in the batteries I took the blade out to see how the hilt looks by itself.
It looks fantastic.
Hasbro included a little plastic piece that's inserted into the saber to make it look exactly like it un-lighted in the films; it's a very nice little accessory. The lightsaber also comes with a belt clip, but I haven't tried that out yet.
What also tickled my enthusiasm was that if one tries to turn the lightsaber on without the blade, it makes a short-circuit sound.
To put the blade back in (and to remove it), you have to unscrew the little orange bulb all the way, and simply slide the blade in place. The lightsaber makes a sound to confirm that it's in, and, continuing to hold the blade in place, screw the bulb back in.
With that, it works fine like any other FX lightsaber. However, I do have some gripes. I know for a fact that, even without owning any other models, Hasbro changed the sounds from previous FX lightsabers. They probably did this to be movie-accurate (Revenge of the Sith?), but I really do not like the new sounds. They sound almost cheapened compared to previous FX lightsabers I messed around with in stores afore. They work fine when idle, swinging and clashing, but are all different.
Also, and this may just be me, one has to really thwack the lightsaber hard to get the clash sound. I'm not sure if this is the case with previous models, but it makes me a little hesitant from hitting it too hard to get the desired sound.
Because of the aforementioned issues, I'm not giving it 5 stars; BUT because this is my first and only FX lightsaber and I can get past the the gripes--plus the fact that the removable blade model is the same price as other non-removable ones--I'm not dropping it any lower than 4 stars.
There's a fantastic review on YouTube showing the lightsaber in great visual detail, but because I'm uncertain if Amazon.com will allow me to post links, I can say that it's dated 7/26/10.
One last thing. The lightsaber, as with previous FX models, comes with a display stand; but with this the stand has two slots: one to hold the hilt and blade separately. The back of the display also has a compartment that holds the accessories when not in use.
If you're on the fence about getting this and can get past the sound differences, it's highly recommended. I personally prefer the older sounds (from the older films), but c'est la vie.
And since I'm a noob, any suggestions and/or tips would be much appreciated by fellow Star Wars FX lightsaber owners and experts.

[Content] => My Clone Wars loving 6 year old daughter wanted this for her Anakin. She got the Saesee Tiin fighter last year for Ahsoka Tano. This one has the ability to convert to two fighters with a slight pull and reconnects easily enough that she can do it. The figure fits securely and the cockpit is better designed. The astrodroid section is very well designed and will take the Clone Wars R2-D2 or Goldie very well and fits any other series astromech. This is an improvement over the episode III Jedi interceptors.
She loves it. Now she's nagging for the Ahsoka Tano fighter too.

[Content] => This is such a great concept--the 3D stage with stand-up characters and colorforms to decorate with. Seems like the perfect thing to inspire little girl imaginations. But, I was a little dissapointed that the colorforms were not really designed to decorate the stand-up figures...there were simply 3 or 4 different Nancy pictures instead of providing outfits for the stand-up Nancy, which I found much less interesting for imaginative play. My 4 year old still liked it, but it became more like removable stickers rather than a chance to make up a story. She seemed unsure what to do with the stand up figures. We did find a pair of glasses and a couple things to put in her hand, but this would have been so much more fun if it was all designed to play with together.

[Content] => Like many other lego fans, I was skeptical with my purchase of a MEGA Bloks set do to their apparent quality difference. However, upon purchasing and constructing this set, I was immensely pleased with my purchase. At 385 pieces for $40, you are getting just about the right price-to-parts price point, 10 cents per piece, unlike lego and its every increasing prices. As for the set, the ships went together with ease for anyone who knows how to build these sets. The instructions were extremely clear and allowed for easy building. My 7 year old brother built the Gauss Warthog with hardly any difficulty, and is enjoying his creation at this moment. The ships are durable and fun. However, application of the smaller stickers can be a bit agitating trying to line it up straight. The figures are great and go great with their respective vehicles and look amazing! The guns quality is great as well. The Locust was a fun build for even myself after building countless lego sets. Constructing the four same legs simultaneously was repetitive, but fun none the less. For the two large vehicles, two Spartans figures, Elite figure, and Grunt figure, this set is a steal at $40 and I recommend it to anybody on the fence about the MEGA Bloks Halo Line.

[Content] => We saw a number of reviews from other vendors saying that the toy didn't work or that it died right away. It looked like we were going to have the same problem, because when we put in the batteries for first use, the toy didn't work. However, after tinkering a little bit, we found out that the battery pack fits in a little loosely. This can cause battery contact problems, but with a little persistence, we got it to work. It runs great now.
My 9-year old son says:"I was worried when at first it wasn't working, but then when I pressed the buttons on the remote, I heard a small noise. Then my Dad said he thought the connections were bad on the battery. Then we got it working!!!!!!!!! Remember to always point the remote at the robot."
It's a great toy for R/C fans!

[Content] => We bought this little guy and haven't had any major issues getting him to work. Had an initial problem getting the remote and R2 to link together. Solved that by turning both off, then turning R2 on, followed by the remote. My son, 7, really likes this robot and gave him the 5 stars. (I defer to him, since he is the child and owner.) We have a number of other robots (D-Rex, for example) that cost far more money. They are, as you might expect, more "show-y." But this little guy is cute, makes all the right noises from the movie and moves around at quite a clip. My son wants you to know that he lets R2 explore and he has a lot of fun with him.

Same thing. It wasn't my son -- it was the toy. It stopped moving after 5 minutes and I watched him closely the entire time. No negligence on our part. This toy just does not work. Will request my money back. Not recommended!
